The Mind and Regaining Control
Below are my thoughts on how to tackle overthinking. I explain, further on, some of the things I done to get out of the loop.
If you're stuck in a loop of overthinking, or find yourself snapping out of long bouts of zoning out,
Understand that there's nothing wrong with you, that's the first step. The last thing you want to do is act against yourself and think there's something wrong
What's true is that your mind is compensating (very well most likely) for a high state of confusion.
It's trying to make sense of experiences and inputs that haven't been processed yet.
Not only that but you don't have enough tools to be able to comfortably let go and trust that you'll be able to handle whatever problems are facing you without neurotically holding on.
Again, there's nothing wrong with your mind, it's just working overtime.
What you need to do is rock the boat.
Do something that's drastic or out of the ordinary for you.
You may already have an idea of what this could be, but you're hesitating for whatever reason (more fears or doubts, maybe of what people will think?)
You can't let these get in your way. Not following your gut instinct is probably what got you in this position in the first place.
You need to shake yourself up. Get your energy moving around.
Here are some things I tried that got me on the path:
- Breathing Exercises (Wim Hof to begin with, then look into Buteyko)
- Ice Baths (for inflammation)
- Deep Tissue Release (MFR)
- Functional Patterns training (make it a staple)
- Fasting (great for getting back in touch with your body)
- Psilocybin (gives you a different perspective other than the one of the ego)
- Baking Soda Cleanse (a bit extreme but cleans out your gut and is a good reset)
Remember these are things that will get you on the path of having more clarity, you will still need to work on facing and resolving them.
Remember, trust yourself and don't get in your own way
